Gmail Enhancements? Almost :: How to Undo the Redo

July 12, 2013

Waking up and opening Gmail this morning was quite an experience. An update occurred, which caused our email to be divided into tabs – Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, Forums.

Now, I would love this even more if it was a bit more customizable and I could edit the names of the tabs, but right now, in the Primary tab, all of my ‘personal’ conversations are recorded. That would be great, but my ‘personal’ conversations include family events, friend gathers, and professional business. Although the folders help me out a bit, the general tab thing ain’t working for me…yet.

[HINT- Let’s get this customization thing under control!]

If you are wondering if you can return to the original chaotic mess that was so lovingly organized under your preferred methods, here are the quick steps to undo the redo:

First, navigate to that Settings wheel, drop-down and select Configure Inbox:

Gmail Settings :: #EatSleepMarket

A pop-up box will appear. Uncheck those tabs that you wish to disappear and click Save. Your email will not be removed. It will remain in the singular inbox window.

Gmail Tab Enhancement :: #EatSleepMarket

And that’s it! Pretty easy. Now you’re back to your single stream mess – one that I have grown to love, but would definitely consider sorting in the future. I’m just not there yet. Gmail, I still love you.

What do you think about the new enhancements? Let’s discuss!
