I will admit that I am excited for the Google+ Pages for Business to launch, absolutely, as I believe Google provides several opportunities for businesses and organizations to succeed through various forms of search engine marketing. However, Google also succeeds at one other thing – getting us so overly hyped up about something that may or may not be worth all the hype.
Perhaps I’m too close to the situation as I’m a marketer, where it is my job to stay on task and at the forefront of all things social media, public relations, marketing, etc so I tend to have a strong opinion (or the occasional mixed opinion – hence this post) about upcoming product and service releases. A few features/benefits that will be paired with Google+ Pages:
1. Visitor Demographic Data
2. Pages cannot add a person to a circle unless that person has already added the Page or mentioned it
3. Pages can have their own +1 button but they cannot endorse other pages or websites with a +1
4. Local Pages have extra location data associated with them
5. Google+ Badge to add to all profiles/website
6. Engagement – Another outlet to connect with potential customers
7. Google+ Pages automatically unfollow you if you unfollow them.
