My Saturday started out like any normal Saturday morning. Early. {As is the life of a mama, and no complaints here! There’s something to be said for waking up early – even if it is the weekend!} Early with a side of my Twitter feed. More specifically? That Bloglovin’ list that gets me moving and shaking, thinking and wondering, imagining and dreaming. Amazing ladies.
And then this happened…
No big deal. Just slept on the other side of the bed LIKE AN EMEFFING ROUGE. (mostly because the lamp on the left side is broken.)
Sounds quite simple – sleeping on the other side of the bed … for one reason or another. In this case, a broken lamp, but others?
+Closer to a window
+Even out that damn lump
+Missing someone
+The silly hotel outlet is located in that “other” territory
+Etc…
It’s rare that we venture over to that place that obviously is so close but resides a world away. And when someone mentions sleeping on the other side, we might giggle – be surprised – intrigued – wonder to ourselves, “Have I done that before?” It stirs up all of these emotions … all because this small act starts to challenge our norm and what we have discovered to be quite comfortable. I mean, I know that MY side of the bed is dynamite! How bad could the other side really be?
What are those things that live on the other side of the “bed”, just out of reach, that we don’t try or challenge?
What if the other side of the bed was just as comfortable?
Starting to challenge what we are comfortable with is the first step to reaching beyond that imaginary line into “the other side of the bed” territory. I encourage all of us (me, included) to take a cue from Sarah and roll on over to the other side of a bed.
Be a rouge. Shake things up. Make a difference. Step outside that comfort zone.
