{Okay, not really yesterday, but a few days ago}
We were blessed with springtime for just a moment this week. Just long enough for us to take a step outside, separate ourselves from the stuffy insides and breath some fresh air. Although she felt a tiny bit under the weather, this minor inconvenience in no way stopped this little lady. I came home from work, and she was helping dad rake the leaves.
{Yes, we have very weird and wild weather in Missouri! If you are scared of experiencing all 4 seasons within one week, this isn’t the place for you.}
She was having the time of her life! As time marches on and our girl turns 1.5 years old – half birthdays are just as glamorous at this age – we notice this strong, independent, and beautifully love-filled personality starting to take shape.
I’m d•y•i•n•g a little inside as I write this because her dad and I already know what we put our parents through… and she is just like the both of us.
But, honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We have a very strong-willed, smart, excited, loving and fussy (at times) lady. She will get into trouble while achieving radical goals. I have no doubt that her passions and efforts will be challenged. Her strength will allow her to come out the other side, maybe slightly bruised or perhaps without a single scratch. And her father and I will be right there, making sure she can pick herself back up and keep moving. Because that’s what it’s all about.
To Mads,
March on, little lady. You’re following the beat of your own drummer. Rock on. LOVE.

March 17, 2014My husband is in Missouri right now attending CBRN Academy at one of the military schools there. He sent me a picture of him wearing shorts the other day and then while we were face timing yesterday, he showed me the snow. Crazy! It’s a very similar picture here in NC.
