We had a great long weekend traveling north to visit family. Several hours in a car but I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Most of the driving took place in Iowa so instead of just sitting there, because Mads surprisingly kept herself pretty well occupied, {please don’t let me jinx future trips!!} I snapped some pictures. I hope you enjoy the very flat but colorful landscape of the American Heartland.
This was the BEST. We have a new car, and the back windows go down all the way. I’m saving my fear of her throwing things out the window for a rainy day because this was the first time she experienced crazy wind blowing through the car. All the windows were down for a little bit while we were driving on the highway. She threw her hands up, as if she was on a roller coaster, and just smiled and laughed the entire time. Awesome!
Pardon the reflection in this one 🙂 We were in a car for the majority of these, obviously.
I’m always surprised by what I see, hear, feel, and … smell. No matter how many times we travel down that same road, it feels new each time. Bearing witness to the various seasons of farmland is heart-warming and exhausting. Acres upon hundreds of acres on each farm. Tractors trotting down the highway. Men and women working from dawn to dusk. All I can say is “Thank you.”
In a place where it is so busy and dedicated and hard-working in the daylight, those nights sure are peaceful.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
