Our local community is struggling. Sadness, rejection, hate and discrimination took center stage … again. Another week of asking ourselves “Why?”
I’m extremely thankful that during these moments of darkness, even the tiniest, thinnest rays of hope and change start to shine through – even if it’s just for a moment. Even if the glimpse is fleeting, only to return another place and another time. I’m thankful.
It’s through these seemingly insignificant glimpses of hope that prove to us that even through those darkest moments, the strength of the other side is mighty.
The ability to forge ahead, build strength and enact change is available. Ready. Waiting. For us.
I’m thankful for the ability. I’m thankful for the opportunity. I’m thankful for a community that will rise up and challenge “tradition.”
At this moment, it’s not about taking sides or deciding who is right and who is wrong. It’s about giving strength to all that need it. Acceptance for those that seek it. Compassion for those who think they don’t deserve it. We are all a part of this community.
