Hello, Saturday! Reflecting back on the past week, and it’s hard to deny that Google was at the top of my Feedly numerous times this week. Therefore, I’m dedicating this Week in Review to the almighty Google machine. Ah, such is the life of a search marketer, I suppose. I mean, when isn’t it about Google? But seriously, a few news items popped up this week that require us to take notice. Here we roll…
1. Google Adwords announced the roll out of mobile adjustments at the ad group level. Very exciting, and although not everyone will have immediate access to this new feature, it’s really going to be a benefit for further mobile optimization in existing and new mobile campaigns.Yay! It’s all in the details.
2. SEOs and webmasters were all a buzz this week about fluctuations in organic search traffic and keyword rankings. Was it a Google update? Nope…
3. BUT you can expect a Penguin 2.0 update to roll out within the next few weeks. On Twitter, Matt Cuts made the announcement saying this would be the next generation of Penguin, so we should be on alert to see how drastically this will affect overall positioning. Reminder: watch your exact match anchor text – Penguin is on the look out!
